Interfaith Peace Service next Sunday

Friends: I invite you to join me at the annual Interfaith Peace Service, held this year at 4 pm next Sunday, September 19, at the Peace Garden, the grove of trees on the south end of Nollen Plaza in downtown Des Moines. The service will include a renewal of the Peace Garden. Bring family and friends. On a personal note, I'm a member of the organizing Ecumenical Peace Committee as one way of practicing my Buddhist philosophy of "Peace within through meditation, and peace without through peace and social justice action." Peace, Charlie

Buddha: "Do no harm....better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace."

Dalai Lama: "Peace, in the sense of absence of war, is of little value to someone who is dying of hunger or cold. Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free."

Mother Teresa: "If we have no peace it is because we have forgotten that we belong to one another."
